In Science class one have been learning all about our bodies and trying to answer the question: Why does my body have different parts? They explored the 5 senses this week and played a guess the sound game. The class enjoyed more specifically learning about their eyes and ears. Year 1 wrote facts and reception made their own instruments that made sounds. The reception children also enjoyed looking at a skeleton and tried making close observational drawings with chalk and the year ones made portraits in the style of Picasso. We have been incredibly busy again in class 2 this week! English We have started a new unit where we are learning to write different types of sentences and we will be writing our own voyage and return story. We have read Gorilla by Anthony Browne as our model text and the children all love it! We can’t wait to see what they write in their stories. Science We continue to learn about materials and their properties and today we experimented with using materials to build a bridge. The children chose their materials and tested them to see which were strongest and how they could make their structure stronger to support more weight. Their imagination and team mindset was fabulous to see. Geography We have been learning how to record to weather with our own rain gauges and thermometer. Each day the children have checked how much rain has been collected and the temperature. This has sparked lots of interesting conversations and discoveries. Have a wonderful weekend! The class...

Class 1's Fabulous Week! We've had another busy week this week, learning about the weather and seasons in Geography. The children have found learning about their bodies and skeletons in Science very interesting and labelled different body parts. In Year 1, they have been practising counting on and finding 1 more and 1 less. Year R has been counting and subitising (visually seeing a pattern). They have shown fabulous dedication towards all their learning this week. Well done! We have been super busy in Class 2 this week! In maths we have been mastering our understanding of the place value of 10s and 1s, partitioning two-digit numbers into 10s and 1s. We have also progressed to exploring other ways we can partition two-digit numbers and the children have been working very hard on this. In English we are writing a report on Autumn and spent the week drafting each section ready to write up on Monday. The children have been showing their amazing art skills and have been sketching by observation. They have drawn fruit to practise shapes and then moved on to their faces. We have been so impressed with the care they take and the light sketching strokes they use. In PE we have been dancing and running! We have made dance routines using actions from gardening such as digging, raking and then showing how tired out we are! We are all very tired after all this learning. Have a lovely weekend. Class 4's Brilliant Week This week Class 4 has been brilliant. We have been working on our 'How to' guide leaflets, arithmetic skills and communication skills as a class. We have had some great learning opportunities and embraced different challenges. PE During PE this week, Class 4 were focusing on their communication skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. It was a challenge for the pupils to move across the bench to put themselves in order of: tallest to smallest, colour, birthdays, alphabetically with different levels of communication. It went from everyone being able to talk and give instruction to only 1 person, then the house captains had to test their leadership skills by organising the whole class. It was great fun and it was fantastic to see the communication skills develop through the session positively. Science Class 4's science lesson was fun, relaxing and sounded like a blast! We tested the movement of sound and how it travels through different solids and w...
