Ready, Steady, SATs!

Image
Ready, Steady, SATs! Class 5, you have all worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of yourselves. Over the weekend, make sure you rest, relax and spend time doing things you enjoy. Reading, playing Prodigy and practising a few different spellings on the blog would all be great ways to keep your brains ticking over. Remember, SATs Breakfast Club starts at 8:20 am each morning, and our SATs Club next week is on Tuesday , not Thursday. Make sure you get plenty of sleep, eat healthy foods and come into school feeling positive and ready to try your best. The most important thing is to give everything 100% and believe in yourselves - we already do! Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all on Monday, ready to shine! Have a restful weekend! Mrs Campbell 💚

Class 5's Build-Up to SATs Week!

Class 5's Build-Up to SATs Week! Class 5 have been working incredibly hard this week as they prepare for their SATs. Everyone has shown a fantastic attitude towards revision and has been trying their very best in every lesson. To make revision more exciting and enjoyable, we have been playing fun learning games to build confidence and practise important skills. One of our favourite activities was a maths reasoning version of Traitors . Children had to solve problems carefully while deciding whether someone was trying to trick them with the wrong answer! This helped everyone improve their checking skills, reasoning and confidence when explaining answers. We also completed a brilliant escape room and mystery challenge linked to SPaG, spelling, arithmetic and reasoning. The children worked together to solve clues, answer questions and unlock each stage of the challenge. It was wonderful to see such teamwork, determination and resilience. Class 5 should feel very proud of all their h...

Year 1 Forest School fun

Image
It was a pleasure, as always, to have the children in Forest School this week. They were keen to continue their den building and tree climbing, and they voted for a rope walk to be set up rather than a swing. Once it was ready, they were all excited to show off their balancing skills. The children are climbing confidently now and are really enjoying pushing themselves a little further each week. One of our parent helpers kindly brought along some log pieces, lard, and seeds so the children could make bird seed cookies. The children loved this activity, carefully making a hole in the wood to thread the wool through for hanging, spreading the lard onto the wood, and sprinkling it with delicious seeds for the birds to enjoy. Thank you so much for providing this activity for us, and well done to the children for their creativity and care. As always, food around the fire was high on the agenda for the children, and they thoroughly enjoyed making their own wrap pizzas.

Class 4's busy week

This week has flown by! We hope everyone enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. We have published our persuasive letters to Miss Reece and worked so hard to make them effective and beautifully presented. We look forward to hearing her response :) Year 4 have been working hard on their times table practice. Each child has a pack to use to practise the trickier times tables and they are all improving and becoming more confident every day. This afternoon, we enjoyed celebrating David Attenborough ’s birthday by researching our favourite animals and creating presentations. We also enjoyed David Attenborough-themed reading yesterday and today, where we learned so many facts about his life. Enjoy the weekend ☀️

Class 2's blog

We have had another great week in Class 2! In Maths, we have been learning all about fractions. The children practised making halves by carefully folding shapes into two equal parts. Once they were confident with halves, they moved on to finding quarters by finding half and then half again. Everyone worked really hard and did a fantastic job understanding this new concept. It has been lovely to see their confidence growing throughout the week. In English, we have started writing our own set of instructions about how to wash a lion! The children have absolutely loved imagining how to wrestle a lion into the bath and give his huge mane a good shampoo. We have seen some wonderfully creative ideas and lots of fantastic descriptive writing. There have certainly been plenty of giggles along the way! We have also started using clay in our art sessions. The children had a great time exploring the clay, making models, and creating different patterns and textures. It has been wonderful to see...

Reception Weekly Blog 🌟

Reception Weekly Blog 🌟 What a fantastic week we have had in Reception! The children have been busy exploring, creating, investigating and learning across all areas of the curriculum. Phonics In phonics this week, we recapped the trigraphs ear, air, ure and igh . We also practised the tricky words and spellings “we” and “be.” The children enjoyed playing lots of phonics games where they blended sounds and sorted real and nonsense words to develop their reading fluency and confidence. English & Science Our English learning linked closely with Science as we explored parts of the body including the ears, mouth and hair . The children created wonderful collage faces and worked hard to label the different parts. We also talked about how our bodies have changed since we were babies. The children reflected on all the things they can do now that they could not do as babies, drawing pictures and writing simple sentences about their growing independence. We explored similarities a...
