Year 5 Forest School adventures

Image
Year 5 had a wonderful time at Forest School this week, making the most of the outdoors and embracing every opportunity for hands-on learning and teamwork. The children were incredibly busy constructing an impressive den in the trees. They worked collaboratively to design and build their structure, using ropes for seating, mud as a form of “cement,” and tarpaulins for shelter. Their creativity and problem-solving skills were on full display as the den grew in both size and complexity. Another popular activity was the rope walk. Some of the children took on the responsibility of helping to set it up, carefully ensuring it was secure and at the right height for everyone to use safely. Once ready, they enjoyed the challenge of balancing along it, showing great determination and resilience. Meanwhile, others spent time in the mud kitchen, where imaginative play flourished. The children mixed mud, added leaves and natural materials, and even set up their own café, serving a variety of “dish...

Year 1 Forest School adventures

Image
Despite having a shorter session today (before they wowed us in their class assembly), Year 1 certainly made the most of their time at Forest School. They created some lovely mud, enthusiastically mixing it up in the wheelbarrows and making full use of the mud kitchen. There was a great sense of teamwork and imagination as they supported each other and worked together. Many children also challenged themselves on the rope walk, showing impressive bravery and balance as they carefully made their way along. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow with each attempt. Using natural materials, the children crafted beautiful necklaces from elder, taking care to thread and design their pieces. Others worked collaboratively to build a lovely den, propping sticks against a tree and discussing how to make their structure strong and stable. A sunny session, full of creativity, cooperation, and adventure!

After school clubs week 21.4.26

Sports and dance club: In this school sports club session, children explored dance by learning how to sequence movements and match them to the tempo and rhythm of a song. They practised combining simple steps into short routines, focusing on timing, coordination, and flow.  Art Club:    In this school art club session, children explored the work of Roy Lichtenstein and learned about his bold, comic book–inspired style. They looked at how he used bright colours, thick outlines, and Ben-Day dots to create striking images. The children then created their own artworks inspired by his techniques, using simple drawings and adding patterns and speech bubbles.  Gardening club: In  this school gardening club session, children worked together to prepare a vegetable patch by digging and turning the soil. They learned how to use basic gardening tools safely and discussed why loosening the soil helps plants grow. The group removed weeds and stones, making the area ready fo...
