Fire, Fun and Forest Adventures

Image
We had such a lovely time at Forest School this week! One of the highlights was enjoying delicious hot dogs cooked over the fire by Miss Reed. Everyone tucked in happily, and it was wonderful to gather around together and share our snack outdoors. We also tried something new — a rope walk! The children had great fun balancing along it, often singing as they went. It quickly became a favourite, along with the ever-popular rope swing. There were plenty of exciting discoveries too. We found a huge worm, which sparked lots of curiosity and conversation. The children were busy building dens, playing creatively in the mud kitchen, and even digging clay from the ground to make their own models. It was a wonderful morning filled with laughter, imaginative play, and lots of lovely conversations and games. We really do love our time outside in the fresh air! We’re already looking forward to our next Forest School adventure.

Class 2's weekly update

It has been a busy week full of learning, stories, and creativity! We started the week with a visit from the Two Johns, who came to talk to the children about internet safety. The session was both useful and interesting, and the children learned some important tips about how to stay safe online. It has also been a week filled with stories. We were very lucky to welcome the author Karen Noller, who visited to share one of her books with us. She also talked about the inspiration behind her writing, which the children loved. In R.E., we learned about the story of the Prodigal Son, which carries a powerful message about forgiveness and kindness towards others. The children enjoyed discussing the meaning behind the story and thinking about how its message can apply to our own lives. As we prepare for World Book Day, we have been reading The Tale of Two Shoes . After exploring the story together, the children used their imaginations to design their own magical shoes. They then wrote some...

Class 4's busy week

This week has been a very busy and exciting one in our classroom, filled with special events and lots of wonderful learning opportunities. We were delighted to welcome a visiting author to school. The children really enjoyed hearing about the writing process, how stories are created, and where authors find their inspiration. It was a fantastic opportunity to inspire our young writers and encourage them to think creatively about their own storytelling. We also had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day ! It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for books and reading. Throughout the day we shared stories, talked about our favourite characters and authors, and celebrated the joy that reading brings. Year 4's learning continued outdoors this week during Forest School , where the children had the chance to explore, problem-solve, and work together in a natural environment. These sessions help develop teamwork, resilience and curiosity, and the children always enjoy the opportun...

Class 4 World Book Day

Image
It was wonderful to see the children in class in their World Book Day costumes today! We enjoyed using our computing skills to create presentations about our favourite book or the character we had dressed up as. Some of the children were able to share their presentations with the rest of the class. We have also enjoyed linking our World Book Day activities to the story The Tale of Two Shoes , which features two shoes who are separated and whose lives take different paths. The story has strong messages about kindness and friendship, and to celebrate this we got creative this afternoon by designing our own shoes with themes of spreading kindness and friendship. The designs are beautiful and the messages are really touching. We then revisited our learning about charities and what they do. We talked about kindness and empathy and how charities support people who need help. The children then designed their own charities and created posters advertising their aims and how they would raise mon...
