Class 3 Story Box Creations Class 3 have had a fabulous morning creating story boxes inspired by their favourite books. Before starting their own designs, the children explored a range of examples and discussed the different ways stories could be brought to life through art and design. The children demonstrated fantastic creativity as they carefully planned and constructed their story boxes, using a variety of materials and techniques. They applied a range of DT skills, working thoughtfully to create impressive 3D features and moving parts that helped capture key moments from their chosen stories. Throughout the session, the children worked exceptionally well together, communicating their ideas clearly, sharing resources, and supporting one another to overcome challenges. They showed great problem-solving skills as they adapted their designs, tested different approaches, and found creative solutions when things did not go quite as planned. By using mixed media, the childr...

Forest School Fun in the Shade

Image
We had a lovely morning in the shade at Forest School today. Our parent helper brought some beautiful flowers, and the children enjoyed pressing the colours from petals and leaves onto fabric. They then transformed their creations into colourful flags, which looked fantastic. Some of the children worked on making frog sticks, carefully using tools to create divots in sticks they had whittled. They showed great concentration and perseverance while developing their tool skills. Elsewhere, children worked together to create a wonderful den. They communicated their ideas clearly and collaborated to design a shady area where they could sit and relax. There was some fantastic teamwork, problem-solving and engineering on display! To help us cool down, we enjoyed a water-based STEM activity led by Miss Krinks. The children were amazed to discover how they could turn the water flow on and off, and the cool spray was very welcome on such a warm day. We also enjoyed making and eating fruit kebabs...

Class 4's week of learning

This week, we have continued our learning about sound in Science, exploring how sound is made and how we hear it. The children have been developing their understanding of the different parts of the ear and the important role they play in helping us hear sounds. In Geography, we investigated the production of milk and followed its journey from the farm, to the shop, and finally to our homes. The children enjoyed learning about the processes involved in getting everyday products to consumers. In English, we have been writing creatively and have begun our exciting new poetry unit. The children have enjoyed reading poems from an anthology and revisiting key poetic techniques such as onomatopoeia and personification. They have also been developing their confidence and expression through poetry performance activities. The children have also been busy expressing their creativity through art, producing some amazing self-portraits. We where very impressed by the skill and individuality shown in...

In English , the children focused on developing their writing skills. They practised writing their names independently, labelled parts of a plant using scientific vocabulary, wrote simple sentences about fascinating plants, and practised sentence writing using the structure “I see a…” .  Our Science learning centred around plants . The children learned about the different parts of a plant, where plants come from, and how to care for them. They explored plants outdoors using magnifying glasses, planted seeds, and later watered and car...

Class 2 weekly blog

We have had yet another lovely week in Class 2! The children have been very busy completing their summer assessments and have worked incredibly hard. We are so proud of the effort, determination, and positive attitude they have shown throughout. Alongside our assessments, we have continued with lots of exciting learning. In Science, we carried out another fascinating experiment about materials. This time, we investigated the stretchiness of different materials. We discovered that elastic was the stretchiest material and learned that it is often used in hairbands and clothing because of its flexibility. In RE, we learned about the story of Moses parting the Red Sea. The children were fascinated by the story and enjoyed discussing its significance and meaning. We hope you all have a wonderful, sunny weekend and enjoy some time outdoors with your families!
