D'Arcy Heads2Minds Visit

D'Arcy Heads2Minds Visit This week, Darcy School was delighted to welcome Heads2Minds , an organisation dedicated to promoting mental wellness and positivity. They kicked off the day with an inspiring whole-school assembly , encouraging students to think about their mental well-being just as much as their physical health. The assembly was full of engaging discussions about self-care, resilience, and the power of positive thinking. Following the assembly, Heads2Minds visited each class to deliver structured well-being sessions tailored to different age groups. These sessions focused on the importance of understanding our bodies, feelings, and minds , helping students recognise emotions and how they affect daily life. Through interactive activities and open discussions, students learned why it is essential to take care of their mental health , just as they would their physical health. One key message from the day was that it’s okay to talk about how we feel. Students were encou...

Record-breaking Book Fair Success!

Image
It was fantastic having the Scholastic Book Fair with us over the last few days. This is always a great way to add to the love of reading at Tolleshunt D’Arcy. The children have  thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the books, looking through them and picking their own to buy and keep.   As a result of the book purchasing, we have raised a record-breaking £400 that can now be spent on re-stocking and updating our library books for the children to enjoy!   Thank you so much for your continued support!   Miss Baker (English Lead)

Forest School Year 2

Going Bananas at Forest School! We began the sessions today with a game of Bat and Moth, which involved a blindfolded ‘bat’ using ‘echolocation’ by clapping to establish where the ‘moth’ might be, ready to catch it. We had lots of fun and laughter watching the moths evading capture whilst the ‘bat’ had to become reliant on their sense of hearing rather than the sight that we as humans are so reliant on. After this, the children prepared bananas with chocolate buttons in and wrapped them in foil before cooking them on the fire. Whilst waiting for the bananas to cook, everyone was extremely busy as usual. Some children chose to use bark, sticks and leaves to make mini-boats to float on our makeshift pond; using palm drills to make a place for the mast to attach. Other children chose to model with air-drying clay using some of the twisted willow to make some interesting creations. Den building was another popular choice and the children really challenged themselves and worked togethe...
