Learning in Class 2 17.5.24

We have had another bust week in Class 2 with lots of learning. More pictures to follow next week!

The children have been working hard on their reading and learning more sounds and spelling rules to further aid their fantastic progress in reading. We have been so impressed with the children's reading this week, they are amazing!

In Maths, Year 2 have come to the end of their fractions unit and have smashed it! They can confidently identify half, thirds and quarters and count up in fractions to make a whole.

Year 1 have also been working on fractions and have been learning to recognise and find half of an object, shape and quantity.

We have continued to write diary entries recalling experiences in Forest School and the children have been writing lively pieces using adjectives, describing their feelings of nerves, pride and how they persevere at the different activities offered at Forest School. It's been a joy to read their work.

In ICT we have moved on to using a search engine to find specific information. The children have learned how to search for keywords on a web page to research topics and people. As always the children loved using the Chromebooks and finding out even more about Florence Nightingale.

We continued our learning on electricity by making circuits and exploring a range of materials and objects to investigate whether they are conductors or insulators. The children loved making the circuits again and enjoyed trying different objects from spoons to cotton wool to see if their light bulb would come on.

Finally, today, we enjoyed some PE in the sunshine!

Have a wonderful weekend.
