Class 2’s busy, sunny week

We have been very busy as always in Class 2 this week.

We have been writing our own Lighthouse Keeper porobekms solving stories, where the children came up with their own problems and solutions for the Grinling’s and Hamish. The children published their stories today, writing up their work in their best handwriting.

We competed a maths mystery challenge on Monday and the children all worked together to use their place value knowledge to complete clues and find the culprit. Year 2 completed their unit on Mass, Capacity and Volume and have started a new unit on Time. Year 1 have been grouping and counting in 10s  and place value in tens and hundreds.

In Science we continued our learning on Magnetism by investigating how magnets attract and repel.

In ICT we have been designing 3D cities, which the children have loved doing!

In DT the children designed and made their lunchboxes to extend their learning on the Lighthouse Keeper stories and they have been very creative.

In Art, the children have made clay Diya pots. We have been learning about Hindu celebrations and extended this to make our own pots to hold a light for Diwali. The children were very skilled in shaping the pots with their fingers and using tools to make marks.

Finally, we ended the week with some PE in the sunshine, practising our throwing and fielding skills.
