London's Burning

As always we have done lots of reading in class. We do reading in phonics every day and also share our reading books with adults. We do group reading using Rhino Readers and vote for and listen to a class story every day. In year one we have also completed a reading comprehension about the rhyme; Jack and Jill.

In maths, the reception children have been learning about numbers 1-5 and explored the composition of  4 and 5. They have also found 1 more and 1 less. In year one the children have continued to recognise and name 2D and 3D shapes.

The Great Fire of London has been the focus in history for year one. They learnt about how and why the fire started and spread so quickly.

This week we have also started to practise for our Christmas play. Some of us have words to learn and we will bring these home today. The parts we need to practise have been highlighted. If you get any time to go through these with your child then it would be much appreciated. Your child will also bring a letter home shortly with a request of what we would like them to bring in to wear for the play. We have tried to keep this simple and to provide as much as we can as a school where possible. Please let us know if you have any issues.
