Odd Socks for Anti-Bullying Week
Choose Respect
This afternoon in Class 3 we talked about this year's theme for Anti-Bullying Week, which is 'Choose Respect.'
The children talked about what bullying is and understood that it is to do with hurting others on purpose, it can be in many different ways and that it is something which happens over and over again. We also talked about how it can be hurtful both physically and emotionally.
The children talked about what respect means to them and what Choose Respect might mean. We talked about making the choice to respect others even though we may disagree with them or find them different. We also discussed the idea that this in turn would help others to show the respect and kindness that we have modelled. We talked about how every single person is unique and brings something special to the world.
The children then designed their own odd socks to represent the idea that everyone is different and that others may be different to us, but we still show them respect and kindness.
The children are invited to wear odd socks tomorrow (Thursday 14th November) for Anti- Bullying week, in recognition of everyone's right to be treated with respect and kindness.
Of course, thank you also for your support in helping our children make kind and respectful choices and aiming to create a world where respect and kindness thrive.
