Forest School Year 3

Forest School - Year 3

Year 3 had a cold but busy afternoon outside today, enjoying the wintry sunshine. We began by thinking about how we felt in our Nature Spots in the woodland area and what we were grateful for. The children enjoyed this moment of reflection and many talked about things they felt grateful for or that they felt calm and peaceful in the woods.

We then set to work on our tin-can lanterns which involved creativity to design and skill and perseverance to complete. The children made the holes of their design by hammering a nail through the sides of the can. The lanterns are designed to have a tea-light inside (you could use battery powered for safety) and then the light should shine through the holes. Hopefully they will provide some light and joy on these dark evenings.

Alongside all the crafting, some of the children enjoyed the rope walk and rope swing and others organised their own game of Hide and Seek. At the end of the session the children shared which of their strengths they had used during the session. The children identified the strengths of good communication, team work, perseverance, calmness and imagination and they shared how these had helped them to achieve their goals.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
