Forest School Year 4

Forest School Fun - Year 4

Year 4 had their final Forest School session for the year on Friday, with lots of fun and collaboration for everyone. We began with a whole group game of 40-40 Home which we all enjoyed, even though winter has made it much trickier to hide in the woodland.

During the session, some children tried their hand at fire-lighting, others used clay and natural materials to make Christmas decorations whilst a couple used the sharp whittling knives to make a kazoo out of some hazel. All of these required perseverance and dedication to succeed, listening carefully to instructions and adapting and perfecting techniques.

Some of the children chose to embrace the damp weather and muddy surroundings and worked as part of a team to make a swamp/muddy area. They had a brilliant time squelching in the muddy swamp they had made and getting it to just the right consistency to get a shoe or welly stuck in it when they tried to get out! It was probably clear from their Forest School kit if your child took part in this activity!

Wishing you all a lovely Christmas break.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Rassell
