Growing in class one

We have had a lovely week enjoying stories and trying to write at length. Linked to our Science work, reception children listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. They then practised using a plan to rehearse saying aloud and then writing the start of the story.  The year ones read the story of: Here comes Mr Post Mouse. They designed settings which they labelled and then wrote descriptive sentences to describe their setting. 

In maths year ones have been grouping and sharing and reception have been exploring the concept of taking away. 

We have continued learning about growing, living things and plants. Year ones learnt about trees and reception learnt about cows and how they produce milk. 

Next week as part of Science we will be spending lots of time outside enjoying the sunshine exploring plants, trees and growing. Please could you make sure your child has a sunhat and sun cream in school.
