Outside Learning

We have had a lovely week making the most of the sunshine. We took our learning outside and did lots of practical lessons. We continued to make observations of our beans and strawberry plants and took turns to water them. We learnt about the wild flowers and their parts. Year one also learnt about deciduous and evergreen trees.

Year one completed a plant work book each day and reception labelled parts of a plant. We had a mindfulness morning with activities such as moving and stretching/yoga, reading in our den, nature hunts, painting and printing with leaves, cloud gazing, daisy chains, mindfulness colouring and mindfulness breathing. Reception also learnt about shapes and patterns in maths and year one explored fractions by finding halves and quarters of shapes and quantities.

In art we also learnt about tints and shades and looked at the work by Kandinsky. We then mixed our own colours  to create a Kandinsky swirl.
