Year 5 Forest School

 Year 5 Forest School

We had a fantastic morning out at Forest School this morning, everyone was calm, focused and incredibly industrious. We played a group game at the start called ‘Rabbit and Hunters’ which involved stealth and tactics for the hunters and constant vigilance for the rabbit!

After that, the children chose their own learning, with some fire-lighting and whittling going on. We also had the rope swing, rope walk and hammock available, which the children loved sharing and enjoying together, communicating their needs and taking turns really well.

There was an exciting building project going on all morning at the back of the Forest School area, with impressive teamwork and ingenious ideas being shared and carried out. I think we may have found our future builders and engineers! We also experimented with some ink made from oak galls, which is a very old technique, and made quills to write with.

I hope the children came home full of enthusiasm about their session and tell you all about it.

Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers who came to the sessions today. We couldn’t have done it without you..and it wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun!

Wishing you all a wonderful week,

Mrs Rassell.
