Life is like a butterfly- Class one

We’ve had another fantastic week of learning in Reception and Year One, filled with sunshine, creativity, and discovery! The children made the most of the lovely weather by enjoying the sun during outdoor play, always remembering to stay safe with hats, water, and plenty of shade.

Here’s what we’ve been up to in our lessons:

🌟 Maths
We’ve been exploring place value—recognising numbers, understanding their value, and practising counting, ordering, and grouping objects. The children impressed us with their number knowledge and careful counting!

📚 English
We shared The Big Book of Bugs, which sparked lots of curiosity and discussion. The children then wrote fascinating facts about the life cycle of a butterfly, using their phonics skills beautifully to sound out tricky words.

🔬 Science
In Science, we looked closely at the life cycle of a butterfly. After talking about the different stages, the children worked together to put them in order from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and finally butterfly. Lots of great observations were made!

🤸 P.E.
Gymnastics this week took us on an adventure! We explored space and movement, pretending to scuttle like crabs and freeze when the giant was near! The children showed great imagination and control in their actions.

🗺️ Geography
We began learning about local and not local places. Using maps, we compared familiar places with ones far away, thinking about what makes them different. The children loved spotting familiar landmarks and discovering new ones!

📖 Reading Reminder
Please don’t forget to log on and read your Rhino Reader books with your child at home. If you can’t remember your login details, just let us know we're happy to help!

Have a lovely weekend!
