Reception Forest School

Forest School Fun!

Reception had a fabulous afternoon outside in the sunshine today with lots of crafting, adventures and great communication with each other.

We started by choosing a natural item out of a bowl and then sharing what we liked about it or why we chose it with the group. The children were able to speak confidently in the log circle and explained themselves to the group, showing they had thought carefully about their object.

After that, we were extremely busy on the rope walk, in the hammock, using the rope ladder to climb trees, swinging and pushing friends on the rope swing and wheeling the wheelbarrow round to collect logs! We also used some elder to hollow out and make telescopes or twist some wire and stick inside the elder to make bubble wands which we used with some bubble mixture. Towards the end, one of the children found a beautiful snail which we watched pop in and out of its shell. It seemed like a magical experience and a wonderful opportunity to be focused and in the moment for a couple of minutes.

Hopefully everyone will sleep well tonight after such an active and action-packed Forest School!

Wishing you a lovely week,

Mrs Rassell.
