Class One's First Week

Our First Week Back

What a fantastic first week we’ve had in Reception! The children have settled in so well and are already getting used to our daily routines with big smiles and lots of enthusiasm.

This week we shared the story Worrysaurus and talked about how sometimes we can feel a little worried, just like the character in the book. The children created wonderful handprint pictures of the Worrysaurus, which look amazing. They also painted lovely self-portraits, showing great attention to detail.

Outdoors, the children really enjoyed exploring the water play and getting creative with different resources. Our outdoor area has been full of busy, happy children playing and learning together.

We’ve also been moving and grooving with Dough Disco, which helps to strengthen our fingers ready for writing, and we’ve sung lots of rhymes together. In Maths, the children have been learning all about the numbers one, two and three through Numberblocks, which has been lots of fun.

We’re so proud of how well everyone has started their Reception journey. Next week we will be setting up Rhino Reader eBooks so that you can start enjoying reading together at home.

Well done, Reception – what a brilliant start to the year!
