Reception Class Blog – Our First Full Week!
What a fantastic first full week we’ve had in Reception!
The children have settled into school life beautifully and have shown great confidence in trying lots of new things. We’ve been so proud of how quickly they are adapting to new routines and expectations – it’s been a very busy but exciting week!
In Maths, we’ve been practicing our counting skills and singing some favourite number rhymes, including Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer and One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Once I Caught a Fish Alive. The children have really enjoyed joining in with the songs and actions.
In English, we’ve been sharing stories by the author Judith Kerr. The children listened carefully and engaged well with the books – it’s been lovely to see them talking about the characters and illustrations.
One of the highlights of the week was our first Forest School session! The children loved exploring the outdoor environment and took part in activities with great enthusiasm.
In P.E, the children tried hard to get changed independently and had lots of fun playing movement games such as The Beans Game and Traffic Lights. Their energy and excitement were wonderful to see!
Alongside all of this, the children have had plenty of time to explore our continuous provision, both indoors and outside. It’s been a joy to see them choosing activities, making friends, and learning through play.
We’re looking forward to another brilliant week ahead. Well done, Reception – you’ve made a fantastic start!
