Class 4 learning this week

The children have come back into class this week ready and raring to go! We’ve started some exciting new units across all our learning, and the children have been using their prior knowledge to build great connections already.

In Science, we are learning about animals and conservation – a topic close to the children’s hearts, as they are all certainly animal lovers!

In Geography, we have begun exploring volcanoes. We started by learning about the four layers of the Earth, including their names and characteristics. The children worked so hard on this task, and their work was beautifully presented.

In English, we have been learning about explanation texts and their key features. The children have been busy imagining their own inventions and will soon be writing introductions and explanations to share with their readers.

Next week’s spellings will be posted on the blog today and will be tested next Friday in class.

A reminder that all children have yellow reading record books where we ask you to record their home reading. We will be checking these every Thursday to see how the children are getting on and how many times they have read at home.

Children who have read five times or more in a week will be entered into a raffle – and the winner will receive a prize! We’ll be starting this from next Thursday.

Thank you for continuing to support the children in their reading.

Have a wonderful weekend.
