Forest School fun with Class 3
It was wonderful to begin Class 3’s Forest School sessions this week, and the children were so excited to be there! Even with the chilly weather, they were enthusiastic and keen to get stuck in. Straight away, the children asked to whittle willow from our tree, put up the hammock, and light a fire. We did indeed do all of these things, and the children also built a brilliant den using the tarpaulin, dug in the soil to find clay, and made friendship bracelets.
We were so pleased to see how the children persevered with activities such as whittling and fire lighting. They were calm, patient, and supportive of themselves and each other throughout the session. The fire lighting had mixed results, but it provided a perfect example of how, in Forest School, we place importance on the process rather than the end product. Many children had a go at lighting the fire, and it was not easy, so well done to them all for their perseverance and resilience.
We are looking forward to next week already!
