Welcome back, Class 2!

We are so happy to be back for the new year and to see all the children ready to learn again. This week, we started a brand-new book, the traditional story of Rapunzel. The children discovered that this is a very old tale that was told for generations in Germany before the Brothers Grimm wrote it down in a book. We talked about how stories can change as they are retold over time, which led to some great discussions and ideas. Next week, we are excited to read a modern version of Rapunzel by Bethan Woollvin and compare the two.

In maths, we have been learning about related facts. The children found that while 54 + 2 might feel tricky, using the related fact of 4 + 2 helps us find the answer more easily.

We finished our rainy Friday with colour mixing in art. The children mixed primary colours to make secondary colours and experimented by adding white or black to create different shades.

Have a lovely weekend.
