World Book Day Week - Karen Noller

World Book Day Week - Karen Noller

We had a fantastic start to World Book Week, made even more special by a visit from the wonderful author Karen Noller. She spent time with every class, bringing stories to life and sharing her passion for writing in such an engaging way. Each session was thoughtfully tailored, with different topics and focuses suited to the age and interests of the pupils. From exploring character creation to discussing the inspiration behind her books, every class gained something unique from the experience.

The pupils were fully engaged throughout the day, asking insightful questions and showing great enthusiasm for reading and writing. It was inspiring to see their excitement and creativity sparked by Karen’s visit.

A huge thank you to Karen for such an enjoyable and memorable day - what a brilliant way to begin our World Book Week celebrations!

Class 1

In Class 1, Karen Noller read her book while pupils enthusiastically acted out different animals from the story. They used instruments to create rhythms and perform together, then designed a cuddly toy as a brand-new character, showing fantastic creativity, imagination, and teamwork throughout the session.

Class 2

In Class 2, pupils enjoyed a fun writing activity inspired by Karen Noller, creating invitations to a party. They used lists of their favourite foods to make their writing detailed and exciting, showing creativity and enthusiasm while developing their skills in organising ideas clearly.

Class 3

In this session, Karen Noller read her new book to the class, inspiring pupils to think creatively about future stories. They explored different settings and shared imaginative ideas about where the next story could take place, showing great enthusiasm, originality, and confidence in developing their own storytelling ideas.

Class 4

In Class 4, pupils worked with Karen Noller to create imaginative characters inspired by different settings. They explored how characters can grow and change throughout a story, developing ideas about personality, actions, and challenges, while building confidence in their storytelling and creative writing skills.

Class 5

In Class 5, pupils created stories based on their favourite activities. Each partner wrote the next part of a story before returning it to the original writer to finish. This collaborative exercise with Karen Noller encouraged creativity, teamwork, and imaginative storytelling skills.

A wonderful start to the week! 🌟
