World Maths Day fun in Class 4
Class 4 celebrated World Maths Day in an energetic and engaging way by combining maths with fitness. The children took part in a range of sporting activities while developing their mathematical skills in a fun, practical context.
Some of the children took the lead in designing recording and instruction sheets. These allowed their classmates to predict results, record actual times and distances, calculate differences, and keep scores. It was fantastic to see such thoughtful planning and ownership of their learning.
We had several activity stations, many of which were set up by the children themselves. These included a bouncing challenge, beanbag throwing into hoops, sprinting, skipping, hurdles, and long jump. At each station, the children predicted their performance—whether that was time, distance, or score—before completing the activity. They then recorded their actual results and even timed each other, applying their maths skills in a real-world setting.
It was such a fun and active PE session, incorporating planning, recording, and key mathematical skills. The sunshine made it even more enjoyable, and the enthusiasm from everyone involved was wonderful to see.
Well done, Class 4!
