Class 5's Super Start to the Summer Term!
Class 5's Super Start to the Summer Term!
Class 5 have made a fantastic start to the summer term! In English, we explored Jabberwocky, analysing its unusual language and different types of poetry. The children enjoyed performing their favourite poems and creating their own nonsense words. We also began reading Alice in Wonderland and learning about the author, Lewis Carroll. Alongside this, pupils have been working hard on their spellings and developing neat, joined handwriting. In RE, we used our “Hands of Knowledge” to share what we know and what we would like to learn. In maths, pupils have worked hard converting fractions to decimals and percentages, and vice versa. It has been a very positive, engaging and productive first week back after the Easter break.
Writing
In English, Class 5 have had a fantastic start exploring the poem Jabberwocky. They analysed its unusual language and identified different types of poetry. The children enjoyed choosing their favourite poems and performing them in groups, and loved creating their own nonsense words and acting them out.
RE
In RE, Class 5 began their new unit by using their “Hands of Knowledge” to share what they already know and what they would like to learn. This helped spark curiosity and discussion, creating an engaging and thoughtful start to the topic. It was positive and reflective beginning to the start of our new unit.
