Year 5 Forest School adventures
Year 5 had a wonderful time at Forest School this week, making the most of the outdoors and embracing every opportunity for hands-on learning and teamwork.
The children were incredibly busy constructing an impressive den in the trees. They worked collaboratively to design and build their structure, using ropes for seating, mud as a form of “cement,” and tarpaulins for shelter. Their creativity and problem-solving skills were on full display as the den grew in both size and complexity.
Another popular activity was the rope walk. Some of the children took on the responsibility of helping to set it up, carefully ensuring it was secure and at the right height for everyone to use safely. Once ready, they enjoyed the challenge of balancing along it, showing great determination and resilience.
Meanwhile, others spent time in the mud kitchen, where imaginative play flourished. The children mixed mud, added leaves and natural materials, and even set up their own cafĂ©, serving a variety of “dishes” to their friends.
To end the session on a high, everyone enjoyed delicious pancakes cooked over the fire, topped with chocolate chips and syrup. It was a real treat and a perfect way to celebrate a fantastic day of outdoor learning.
Well done, Year 5, for your enthusiasm, teamwork, and creativity!
