Class 3 Life Cycles
In Science, Class 3 have been learning all about life cycles. Today, they particularly enjoyed exploring the life cycle of a butterfly and discovering the amazing changes that take place as it grows.
The children learned that a butterfly starts its life as an egg. Once the egg hatches, a caterpillar emerges and begins eating lots of food to help it grow bigger and stronger—just like in the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
After this stage, the caterpillar transforms into a chrysalis (pupa), where an incredible process called metamorphosis takes place. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar changes completely before finally emerging as a beautiful butterfly.
The class were fascinated by each stage of the butterfly’s journey and enjoyed discussing how living things grow and change over time.
