Class One's busy week

This week in Reception we have been very busy with our learning!

In English, following our wonderful school trip to Barleylands Farm, the children used their experiences as inspiration for their writing. They wrote sentences about travelling on the coach, making biscuits, feeding the goats and sheep, going on a tractor ride and learning about the different mini beasts we saw, including stick insects, millipedes and snails. We were so impressed with their enthusiasm and recall of the trip.

In Guided Reading, the children continued reading in small groups and practised using their reading skills to talk about stories and sounds.

In Phonics, we recapped Level 3 phonemes, practised segmenting and blending words and worked on reading Level 4 tricky words.

For Handwriting, the children practised writing the tricky words “all” and “are”, focusing on correct letter formation.

In Maths, we practised counting beyond 20, explored doubles, subitised numbers and used number tracks to support our learning. The children also enjoyed playing track games to develop their counting and number skills.

In Music, we enjoyed singing songs and clapping along to the beat.

It was lovely to see so many parents at Open Door this week. We hope you enjoyed looking through your child’s books and seeing all of their fantastic learning in the classroom.

We hope you all have a wonderful half term break and enjoy the sunshine!
