Reception Weekly Learning Blog

This week in Reception we have been very busy with lots of exciting learning across all areas of the curriculum!

English

In handwriting, we practised our tricky words: was, my, and you. The children worked hard on forming their letters correctly and taking care with their handwriting.

In writing, we learned about King Charles III and his love for bees. The children also enjoyed describing a picture from the story of Goldilocks. We focused on writing dictated sentences, sounding out words using the sounds we know, and forming our letters carefully.

In reading, the children took part in guided reading sessions and enjoyed sharing and discussing books together.

Maths

In maths, we explored measures and made comparisons between the length and height of different objects.

We also used number tracks from 1–10 to practise making jumps along the track. The children enjoyed playing a track game where they took turns, rolled a dice, and moved the correct number of spaces.

RE

In RE, we learned about the holy place for Muslims and discovered why a Mosque is a special and holy place for Muslims.

Outdoor Learning

We enjoyed lots of outdoor learning this week and the children tried very hard to work quietly and respectfully while the older children completed their SATs tests.

Well done Reception for another fantastic week of learning!
