Trip to Barleylands
Class 1 and 2 had a fantastic trip to Barleylands on Monday! The children were full of excitement as they climbed onto the coach and eagerly watched through the windows for the first glimpse of the farm.
When we arrived, it was straight into a busy morning of baking. The children worked brilliantly in groups to mix together a shortbread recipe before getting creative with their biscuit designs. There were all sorts of wonderful patterns and shapes made, and everyone was very proud of their creations. While the shortbread baked in the oven, it was time to enjoy lunch together.
In the afternoon, we explored the farm and exotic animal enclosure. The children were fascinated by the giant snails and hissing cockroaches, and they loved having the chance to feed some sheep and goats. One of the highlights of the day was seeing the tiny baby piglets, which were only a week old!
Despite a brief downpour, it was a wonderful day from start to finish. The children behaved beautifully throughout the trip and were a real credit to the school. We were so proud of them all — well done, everyone!
