Class 2's weekly blog.
In Science, we began our new topic on materials. We started by learning about strong materials such as wood and metal and discovered how these materials are used to build bridges. The children learned that triangles are often used in bridge construction because they help make structures stronger and more stable.
The children built their own mini bridges using lolly sticks and masking tape. The children worked brilliantly, showing great teamwork and creativity. Once the bridges were complete, it was time for the big test! We carefully tested the strength of each bridge to see how much weight it could hold. While a few bridges sadly collapsed, most stayed strong and impressed us with their durability. It was a fantastic afternoon full of excitement, problem-solving, and lots of cheering!
In Maths, we have continued learning to tell the time. The children have worked incredibly hard and are becoming much more confident reading clocks and understanding different times throughout the day. We are very proud of their progress.
We finished the week with a creative and relaxing Art lesson. The children explored beautiful artwork from the Museum of Psalms, looking closely at how the artist represented different psalms through colour, shape, and imagery. Inspired by what they saw, the children created their own paintings and the finished artwork was absolutely stunning.
Well done, Class 2, for another wonderful week of learning!
