Class 3 Scientific Enquiry

This half term, Class 3's science focus is Scientific Enquiry, where the children are developing their skills in asking questions, making predictions, carrying out investigations, and finding results.

This afternoon, the children enjoyed learning about the different stages of a scientific investigation. They explored how to ask effective scientific questions, discussed what it means to make a prediction, and learnt about variables and why it is important to keep an investigation fair.

The children were also introduced to solar ovens and learnt how they use the Sun's energy to heat up food and other items. They were fascinated by how solar ovens work and enjoyed discussing the features that might make them effective.

Next week, the children will be making their own solar ovens and investigating how effective they are. They are already looking forward to putting their scientific enquiry skills into practice through this exciting hands-on project.

To support this activity, we would be very grateful for donations of clean, empty shoeboxes. If you have any spare shoeboxes at home, please send them into school during the coming week.

Thank you for your support.
