Ancient Roman history day

On Thursday we welcomed Lisa (or Flavia Domatilla) from Off the Page to led us in an Ancient Roman experience day.

In the morning we enjoyed a range of activities such as wax tablet making, scent bags, making our own ancient Roman games, copper pressings, mosaic making and clay modelling. The children moved around the room, taking part in activities of their choice, interspersed with Roman Soldier training and news from the front line of the battle against the British. Word reached us of a woman named Boudicca who was slowly but surely wreaking havoc on the Roman Empire.

In the afternoon we split into groups to prepare entertainment for a celebratory feast (we won against the British!) Some children performed plays, some danced, some marched and we enjoyed a 3 course feast of wine,  read and apples!

The children looked amazing in their costumes, and fully immersed themselves in the day. The embraced the activities with care and imagination and the performances were so special. They were respectful and interested all day.

Well done to the children and thank you to Off the Page for facilitating and the adults for supporting.
