A wonderful week in Maple Class!

We have continued to settle into our new routines this week, and it has been lovely to see the children becoming increasingly confident and familiar with our expectations. We have been practising what it means to be ready for learning, including listening carefully, following instructions and organising ourselves. The children have worked hard and it has been wonderful to see their growing independence.

In PE, we have enjoyed taking part in a range of team-building games. The children were kind, sensible and confident.

In Science the children identified natural and man-made sources of light.

In History, we have begun exploring the Stone Age and have been learning about when this period of history began. We have started to think about how different life was for people during this time.

In RE, we have been learning about Noah and the Ark and thinking about how Noah demonstrated his faith by following God's instructions, even when he was faced with a very challenging task. The children have enjoyed discussing the story and creating beautiful storyboards to retell the story.

We have had lots of fun in Guided Reading this week, with our text coming from The BFG. The children have absolutely loved it and have been particularly enthusiastic about volunteering to read aloud to the class. We are also continuing to enjoy our class novel, The Butterfly Lion, which has already captured the children's hearts.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our parent presentation this week. We look forward to meeting with other parents and carers soon.

Another busy and positive week in Maple Class! We are very proud of the way the children are settling in and look forward to another week of learning together.

A little reminder for next week: PE will take place on Thursday, so please make sure children have their PE kit in school.

Have a lovely weekend! 🌟
