Birch Class
Our Learning This Week
This week, we have been retelling the story of Puffin Peter. The children have been using adjectives to describe the puffin characters and the settings. I was really impressed by some of their descriptions, including phrases such as “mighty ferocious storm” and “massive powerful waves”. It has been lovely to see the children using their imagination and adding detail to their storytelling.
In maths, we have been practising addition and subtraction. The children have been learning to use counters, number lines and number bonds to help them work out their calculations. These different methods have helped them build confidence and find ways to solve problems.
In history, we created a timeline that stretched the length of our classroom! We explored how toys have changed over time and investigated which toys were made using plastic, batteries and microchips. The children discovered how toys have developed, from simple wooden blocks to Lego and, more recently, iPads. It was a great opportunity to compare toys from different generations and think about how technology has changed the way we play.
Well done to everyone for their hard work and enthusiasm this week. We look forward to more learning adventures next week!
