Poetry, Powerful Shadows and Matilda’s Magic! ✨

This week, we have been working hard on our poetry in English! We began by writing our own free verse poems inspired by nature and did so well that we went on to apply our skills to poems about school. The children have done a fantastic job of using the features of free verse poetry in their own writing, experimenting with ambitious vocabulary and descriptive language to bring their ideas to life.

In Science, we have been exploring how light travels and how shadows are formed. The children used shadow puppets to investigate how shadows change and develop their understanding of how light is blocked by objects.

In RE, we have been learning about Abram and how he trusted God, even when he had worries about what God was asking him to do. We explored the covenant God made with Abram and thought carefully about the questions Abram might have had. The children considered how Abram overcame his worries to put his trust in God and follow His instructions.

In PE, we continued our Matilda dancing, this time choreographing movements to show Matilda using her telekinetic powers to move objects! Working in pairs, the children took turns being Matilda and the objects she was moving. They absolutely loved this activity and worked brilliantly together to bring their ideas to life.

It was a pleasure to see so many families at our open afternoon yesterday. Thank you for taking the time to come in and share the children's learning with us!

Have a lovely weekend! 😊
