Year one loved working scientifically this week to investigate materials, exploring which were absorbent and which were waterproof. They carried out the science experiment to investigate which material would be most suitable for putting a roof on the structures they designed and built in previous weeks.  Reception also enjoyed using water in maths this week when exploring and comparing the capacity of different containers. They also used balance scales to compare the mass of objects using the language of heaver and lighter than.  In PSHE we continued to think and talk about keeping safe. We discussed how we keep safe indoors and outdoors and tried to learn and understand the PANTS rules Talk PANTS is here to help children understand that they have a right to say no and if they need to speak out about something, someone will listen.  Class 4's FAB Week Class 4 had an amazing week! In science, we experimented with water, exploring objects that are streamlined. PSHE was all about learning how to take care of our bodies, from healthy habits to self-care. PE was a blast as we started learning our new class dance. Fun and learning combined! Class 4 Homework Spellings Each week Class 4 will have a new set of 10 spellings that will be posted on the blog. Please support your child with learning these over the week. Thank you. This week's spelling pattern is word families based on common words, showing how words are related in form and meaning. Maths Each week there will be Maths homework assigned to the children on Maths.co.uk. The pupils have all received their log in details, but if there are any problems or your child has lost their log in details please speak to Miss Barber. These are short and focused quizzes to support the pupils across all areas in Maths.  With the new updates to Maths.co.uk, I am now able to set two separate objectives (a year 5 objective and a year 6 objective). Forest School Fun Class 1 had a fabulous time at Forest School again with everyone enjoying the time spent outside with their friends. Den-building was a big hit today for both groups with some great team-work going on to roll logs and tie up tarps. It involved a lot of trial and error and problem solving too.  The children also had fun challenging themselves on the rope ladder and rope walk building strength and resilience. Lots of children enjoyed the see-saw - taking risks and communicating with each other to stay safe whilst having lots of fun.  As usual there were some delicious and creative things being concocted in the mud kitchen...although sadly no chance to taste test today! The children also tried out their safe whittling technique on some willow which then was turned into various inventive items, including fishing rods and stick men. Some of the reception children tried their hand at making sparks with the flint and steel and were thrilled when they were successful...

 Class One have worked particularly hard this week in English. Reception children have practised writing a shared sentence into their books using the phonics taught in sessions. They looked at capital letters and tried to include a full stop. Year one have been using nouns and adjectives and used two images as a stimulus to write their own stories. We had some fabulous descriptive writing with excellent word choices. The reception children used 5 frames and counters to represent and solve one more and less problems in maths lessons and the year one children have used tens frames and base ten equipment to represent numbers from 11-19.  Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the 'Everyone's favourite toys activity' and sent them in this week. The children enjoyed sharing this work with the class. They then learnt more about toys from the past and looked at a toy time line. 

It's been a busy week of learning in Class 2! In English, we finished our writing about the Christmas holidays. The children showcased their skills in writing in the past tense, using conjunctions, and structuring their sentences effectively. In Maths, there was fabulous learning on balancing number sentences and solving problems by finding missing numbers. The children showed great determination and problem-solving skills! In ICT, we enjoyed creating charts about our classmates' favourite sports. The class began by surveying each other and then inputted their data to make bar, block, and pie charts. The children loved this activity and are becoming more confident and fluent in using the Chromebooks. In Art, we studied the work of Bridget Riley and explored drawing different types of lines using pencil and chalk. The children were very creative and enjoyed experimenting with new techniques. Class 4's Wonderful Week Class 4 had an exciting week filled with learning and fun! We debated lively topics like boys vs. girls, explored movement to different music in PE, and created vibrant food plates. Crafting healthy body and mind timetables rounded out a fantastic week of creativity, activity, and critical thinking.  English This week, Class 4 sharpened their persuasive skills with exciting debates in English! The theme? Boys vs. girls tackling a variety of topics. Passionate arguments, thoughtful counterpoints, and teamwork were on full display as everyone shared their ideas confidently. It was a fun and engaging way to build critical thinking! PE This week in PE, Class 4 explored movement inspired by different pieces of music. We listened carefully, thinking about the sounds and how they made us feel.
