🌿 Willow Class Weekly Blog  🍂 What a wonderful week we have had in Willow Class! The children continue to settle beautifully into Reception, growing in confidence, developing their independence and showing such enthusiasm for their learning. We are incredibly proud of how hard they are trying and how well they are adapting to their new routines. 🧸 My Special Things This week, we have been thinking about our special toys and pets as part of our All About Me books. The children enjoyed talking about their favourite things and sharing what makes them special. We explored how we can use pictures, marks, letters and words to communicate our ideas. The children had opportunities to draw their special toy or pet, adding details to their pictures and beginning to write names or initial sounds.  We continued our journey towards becoming little authors by thinking about our favourite foods. The children talked about, drew and began to write about foods they enjoy, listening c...

Art - Surreal Dreamscapes Collage

Image
Surreal Dreamscapes ✂️🎨 Our Year 4 and Year 5 children have been getting creative with Surreal Dreamscape Collages, and what a fantastic time they had! The children explored a range of images from magazines and newspapers, carefully selecting pictures, objects and patterns that inspired them. They then cut, arranged and glued their chosen images to create their own unique surreal dreamscapes. Our classroom was certainly a hive of creativity, with plenty of cutting, sticking, rearranging and a little bit of mess! The children enjoyed using their imaginations to combine unexpected images and create dream-like scenes where anything was possible. It was wonderful to see the children making their own creative choices and developing such imaginative ideas. Each collage was completely different and showed the children's individual personalities and creativity.

🌿 Conkers, Crowns and Mud! 🌿

Image
Willow Class enjoyed our time in Forest School again today, with lots of children keen to get creative with our conkers! We made necklaces and wands, using our tool-handling and crafting skills to carefully make holes in the conkers before threading them with wool or adding sticks. The children showed great concentration and perseverance as they worked on their creations. We also had a go at making willow crowns. These were a little bit fiddly to begin with, but with some practice and a few adaptations, we are sure we will all be able to make our own crowns! Some children particularly enjoyed getting stuck into our mud play today! They used water from our canister to add to the digging area, creating lots of lovely, squelchy mud. There was plenty of jumping, splashing and enthusiastic muddy play as the children explored the mud at the bottom of the digging hole! As always, there was plenty of tree climbing, exploring, building and opportunities to work and play together. It was wonderf...

Birch Class' weekly blog

Image
We have been busy again in Birch Class! We have been doing lots of reading and practising writing words using the new graphemes we have been learning. The children have also started writing about our new class book, Puffin Peter , about a little puffin who gets lost. They have written some creative sentences and are beginning to use linking words such as ‘but’, ‘when’ and ‘because’ . In maths, we have been learning about part-whole models. The children did really well at breaking numbers into two parts and developing their understanding of the composition of numbers. We have also been getting ready for our Harvest Collective Worship. The children painted pictures of fruits and vegetables using autumn colours such as red, orange and yellow. They were very proud to show their pictures during the Harvest service. Well done, Birch Class, for all your hard work this week!

Another Busy Week in Maple Class! 🍁

It has been another busy and exciting week in Maple Class! In English , we have brought together our learning and skills from across our unit to write our own Mini Rabbit Not Lost stories. The children have worked incredibly hard to write stories that capture Mini Rabbit’s character and have included a little twist at the end! On Friday morning, we spent time publishing our stories, with some children writing more in one sitting than ever before! We are so proud of the perseverance, determination and pride they have shown in their writing. In Maths , we have been estimating numbers on a number line and then comparing numbers. These lessons have given the children practical skills for tackling questions and problems in Maths, and they have all shown a confident understanding of the methods we have been using. In History , the children explored the diets of Palaeolithic people as we continue to learn more about what life was like during the Stone Age. They enjoyed thinking about the dif...

Church Visit- Harvest Festival

Image
Our school had a wonderful time visiting the church to celebrate the Harvest Festival. The children enjoyed taking part in the celebration and sharing their learning about harvest. They presented beautiful poems, displayed their creative artwork and gave thoughtful talks about the importance of harvest, giving thanks and helping others. It was lovely to see the children confidently sharing their ideas and talents with the church community. We would like to say a huge thank you to all our families for their generous donations. Your kindness and support helped us to collect a wonderful amount of food to share with those in need in our local community. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make our Harvest Festival such a meaningful and special occasion.
