  Shared Writing - Class 4 & Class 2 Buddies Sharing Fantastic Writing! Today, Class 4 and Class 2 buddied up to share our fantastic writing! Class 4 read our balanced debates about whether pupils should wear school uniforms, presenting both sides of the argument. Class 2 amazed us with their imaginative stories about lost things. We took turns reading, listening carefully, and giving positive feedback. It was wonderful to see younger students’ creativity and to share our own persuasive writing. Everyone enjoyed the experience, gaining confidence and new ideas. It was a brilliant way to celebrate our hard work and encourage each other as writers. We can’t wait to do it again!  If your child had their reading record in school yesterday then at the back of it, you will find an individual log in which your child will be able to use to access their Rhino Reader e-book.  You will need to log into Twinkl.com/learn using your child's unique username and password. Once logged in for the first time your child will be able to choose their own avatar then can access their book from their 'My Rhino Readers Library' located on their dashboard. When you click on the My Rhino Readers Library you will be able to see the books that have been allocated. 

Class 4 Homework Spellings Each week Class 4 will have a new set of 10 spellings that will be posted on the blog. Please support your child with learning these over the week. Thank you. This week's spelling pattern is a statutory spelling challenge. Maths Each week there will be Maths homework assigned to the children on Maths.co.uk. The pupils have all received their log in details, but if there are any problems or your child has lost their log in details please speak to Miss Barber. These are short and focused quizzes to support the pupils across all areas in Maths.  With the new updates to Maths.co.uk, I am now able to set two separate objectives (a year 5 objective and a year 6 objective). Forest School Cooking with Class 1 Class 1 had lots of fun cooking on the fire today. Both groups made smores and had a go at whittling their sticks of willow to toast the marshmallows on, before sandwiching it between two chocolate biscuits. Some of the Year 1 children made toffee apples on the fire too. Delicious! We had lots of fun in the new hammock and embraced the mud; for some of the children this seemed to be literally, as they were smothered in it! Many of them also said that getting muddy was when they had the most fun in the session. We managed to keep warm with some fun games, lots of  child-led learning and challenging ourselves on the swing, rope walk and rope ladder. Best wishes for a lovely week, Mrs. Rassell

  KS2 Trip Dear Parents/Guardians, We are pleased and excited to inform you that KS2 students will be attending an educational trip to the  London Science Museum  on  Thursday 22nd May . This visit will provide a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with science in an interactive and stimulating environment. During the trip, pupils will take part in two exciting activities: Exploring Space Gallery  – A fascinating exhibit where students will learn about space exploration, astronauts, and the wonders of the universe. The Wonder Show!  – An engaging and interactive science show designed to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for scientific discovery. Please ensure your child arrives at school no later than  8:15 AM  for registration as the coach is scheduled to depart promptly. What a fantastic week we’ve had in Class 2! In Maths , we continued exploring 3D shapes , focusing on counting faces and comparing and sorting different shapes. The children are really enjoying this unit and are growing in confidence when naming the shapes. In English , the children have written up their wonderful stories about a lost hat . It has been a joy to read them, and it’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm for writing. They have been working so hard, and their creativity is shining through! In RE , we continued learning about Islam , deepening our understanding of the faith. The children speak respectfully, showing great curiosity and thoughtfulness in their discussions. Our Guided Reading sessions have taken us into the world of lions ! The children have been working brilliantly in pairs to retrieve information from the text, demonstrating great teamwork and comprehension skills. Class one have been singing lots of counting rhymes when learning about one more and one less. We used tens frames and counters and used them to represent numbers. Year one used number lines to count on and add. They also practised making doubles and enjoyed playing a doubling dice game with a partner.  In English the year one children practised using verbs and wrote a recount of Sam bear's day. Reception children practised writing the graphemes: ow and oi and wrote simple sentences with a capital letter and full stop.  In R.E we considered baptism and in History the children continued to think about toys from the past and made comparisons between old and modern toys.
