Have a lovely half term

Wishing everyone a lovely half term! 🌟 Thank you and well done to the children for all their fantastic efforts with creative homework this half term. We had a lovely morning of oracy and listening, with the children presenting and sharing their favourite pieces of work. The children have suggested some ideas for next half term’s homework, and these will be posted on the blog after the break. Please do try to read as much as possible over the holidays and record this in the yellow reading books. These should come into school every day, please. Thank you again, and have a wonderful week! The Class 4 Team

Forest School fun

Image
Forest School looked a little different today! The rain had made the leaves and grass soft and soggy, and before starting our activities, we had a lovely conversation about how the rain had changed our area. The children noticed how different it looked and felt compared to previous weeks, when the ground was covered in crunchy leaves and crisp grass. They always love talking about what they can see, hear, and feel in nature! We had some wonderful whittling today — the children showed great perseverance and really worked on improving their techniques. They also made and decorated beautiful crowns using willow and leaves, which looked fantastic! Throughout the session, the children were busy exploring — moving sticks, digging, transporting soil, and enjoying every part of our Forest School area. It has been a wonderful half term with the children. Over the past eight weeks, they have grown in confidence, skill, and curiosity. We’re so proud of how much they’ve learned and how connecte...

Year 3 Dance

Image
Year 3 Dance This half term, the children have enjoyed practising dances inspired by the characters in Roald Dahl’s Matilda . This week, they focused on the character Miss Trunchbull and explored her personality and traits. Using these ideas, they created their own movements and performed short sequences to music. They were absolutely amazing and represented her character brilliantly! The children have taken home their PE kits so they can be washed ready for next half term. Please ensure they have trainers (that fit), shorts, a T-shirt, and a warm tracksuit (jogging bottoms and a hoodie) ready for outdoor PE during the colder months next half term. These will need to be brought back into school on the first Monday after the holiday. Thank you for your continued support, Miss Baker

Class 4's wonderful week

This week in Class 4, we’ve been working hard in English on fronted adverbials ! The children have been practising this important writing skill and finished the week by creating their own imaginative paragraphs, using a wide range of fronted adverbials to add variety and detail to their writing. Their creativity and effort have really shone through! In History, we came to the end of our unit on the Iron Age . The children explored what trade was like during this fascinating period. It’s been wonderful to see how much knowledge they’ve gained over the course of this topic. In PE, we continued developing our dance and dodgeball skills. The children have shown great teamwork, coordination, and energy in both activities. We ended the week with our classroom worship and then the much-anticipated Halloween disco ! The children had a fantastic time and their behaviour was excellent throughout. A reminder that all children now have reading record books for recording their reading at home. ...

Class 2 blog

We have had a busy and happy week in Class 2. We have been reading, performing and writing poetry! The children looked at list poems, shape poems and rhyming poems. Finally, they wrote their own list poems about autumn. In maths, the children have been working hard on their addition and subtraction skills. We have used counters and number lines, as well as the number facts we already know.  We finished off the week with a great time at the disco! The children danced, played and sang to their hearts' content. I'm sure they will all sleep well tonight. There are lots of photos of the amazing costumes on the main school blog. Have a lovely weekend.
